Green Tea gets a Boost, and Gives a Boost!
 Good Caffeine? You Bet!
As a Result of Poor, Acid-Based Nutrition...

Dear Reader,

Green tea is rightly known as one of the healthiest beverages around, due to its rich content of unique antioxidants. Green tea is simply the dried leaves of the tea plant, but this simple gift from nature contains compounds known as polyphenols, including phytochemicals that have antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral and health-enhancing properties. A particular type of polyphenol in green tea may be able to penetrate the body's cells and help shield the DNA from potent free radicals. Green tea can help lower cholesterol levels, and reduces the clotting tendency of the blood. It also shows promise as a weight-loss aid that can promote the burning of fat and help to regulate blood sugar and insulin levels.

Combining green tea with vitamin C may significantly boost the tea's antioxidants by making them more available to the body. Apparently catechins, the green tea type of antioxidants, have many health-promoting qualities, but they're not as readily absorbed by the body in a non-acidic environment.

Researchers tell us to avoid adding milk to green tea, as it lessens the potency of green tea's antioxidant power. By supplementing green tea with citrus juices, such as lemon or lime, or the addition of ascorbic acid (vitamin C), the staying power of the catechins is greatly enhanced. Vitamin C can increase the effective levels of green tea antioxidants by up to 13-fold.

Of course, to get the maximum from your green tea, you've got to drink a lot...anywhere from five to 10 to as many as 20 cups of green tea a day to provide the significant antioxidant protection to your body. That's a lot of tea!! Here are a few creative ways to include more health-giving green tea to your day:

Make a jug of strong green tea, and sip throughout the day with ice and citrus fruit; try adding a splash of pomegranate juice for added power and flavor.

Give yourself a healing, detoxing facial by using brewed green tea instead of plain water when preparing a foot or facial mask.

Make your own hydrating, moisturizing facial spray by combining cooled green tea, distilled water, and a few drops of vitamin E into a facial spray bottle. Spritz before and after applying moisturizer; set make-up with a quick spritz; give yourself a cool spray on a hot day, by keeping a bottle in the fridge or cooler.

Mix a strong batch of green tea and add it to your bathwater.

Keep brewed green tea in the refrigerator, and use it in place of water in recipes. Green tea goes well in making rice, homemade bread, and many other recipes and dishes. Use your imagination!

Here at IVL, we've known about the benefits of green tea for a long time. That's why we put together our Green Tea Elixir™, making it one of the best, most convenient ways to get your daily supply in one place and at one time. Our Green Tea Elixir combines the power of green tea, with tasty Chinese magic fruit, healthy hibiscus, and the vitamin C packed power of rose hips--one of the world's best sources of natural vitamin C.

There are many ways to include Green Tea in your daily routine and gain the remarkable benefits of this simple, yet powerful gift from nature. I hope you'll give it a try!

Good Caffeine? You Bet!

Green tea is unique: it's made from pure, unfermented leaves that are harvested at their peak perfection and then stabilized through exposure to both humid and dry heat —giving green tea the highest concentration of polyphenols and locking in the tannins.

Tannins ensure that caffeine is taken to the brain in only small amounts so it can be easily used. This helps green tea drinkers improve their vitality and stamina without the up-and down effect of black tea.

Tannins inhibit the oxidation of your body's DNA material, a leading cause of cell destruction and mutation.

Green tea tannins help clear urinary tract infections, stimulate digestion, reduce unwanted body fat, increase hair growth and support saliva secretion to keep teeth free of plaque.

Pretty amazing, don't you agree? Gain the enhanced immunity protection of 20 cups of tea with just a few drops of Green Tea Elixir™!

Help Fido Keep His Cool In Warm Weather
 Check out NASA's Astonishing Results...
The Length and Quality of Your Life Depend On How Well Your Liver  Functions!

Dear Reader,

When humans get hot, we sweat and our bodies use the moisture to cool us off. Dogs are not so lucky. When they get hot, they pant and that is not the most efficient means of cooling down an overheated body. That's why we have to look out for our four-footed friends when the temperatures begin to rise.

Contrary to popular opinion the weather does not have to be scorching hot to pose a threat to your pet's health. The warm days can be dangerous to pets, especially if they are left in a vehicle. Never, ever leave your dog in the car when it's over 65-70 degrees outside. The car acts as an oven and could quickly cause your dog to dehydrate, have a heat stroke and even die. A panting dog produces heat and humidity every time they breathe out. This hot, damp air re-circulates in the small space inside a vehicle, making the conditions even worse.

Consider trimming or shaving the coat of a longer-haired pet when the weather is warm. They will feel much more comfortable and will be less likely to overheat. Make sure to leave enough hair on the animal to prevent sunburn.

You should never tie up your pet outside. If their leash gets tangled, they can cut themselves off from access to their water dish and shade. If you aren't home to rescue them, the consequences can be fatal. Make sure your pet's water bowls are the heavy kind they cannot tip over. A full bowl of water can become an empty one with the wrong nudge of a nose. Keep the water in your pet's bowl as cool as possible. Leave the bowl in the shade to keep it from overheating and evaporating. Freeze water in small plastic butter dishes to make an extra large ice cube that will last for hours.

Some pet owners purchase kiddy pools and fill them up with a few inches of clean water. If your dog stays outside during the day, make sure he has a well-ventilated doghouse that is kept in the shade.

Certain dogs are more prone to heat stroke than others. They include:

  • Brachycephalic breeds: Breeds with short faces, such as pugs, Pekinese, mastiffs and boxers, are at higher risk of overheating since their shorter airways do not cool as quickly and efficiently as other breeds.
  • Dogs with dark or thick coats: Light colors reflect heat and dark colors absorb heat. Dark-colored dogs have a harder time dissipating heat than dogs with lighter coats.
  • Dogs who have respiratory problems: Any dog that is coughing, sneezing, wheezing, or has lung congestion will be at greater risk for heat stroke. Sick dogs, older dogs and puppies under six months are more likely to suffer heat-related maladies.
  • Overweight dogs. Overweight dogs have limited breathing capacity which contributes to heat stroke.
  • Dogs on medications: Certain types of medications can make dogs more susceptible to heat-related health problems.

Check out NASA's Astonishing Results...

NASA scientists discovered that because the cells of the body live in an essentially zero-gravity environment, it's beneficial to alter the G-force in order to stimulate the body's lymphatic system that removes toxins from the cells.

Rebounding, (jumping on a trampoline), they found, is the only exercise proven to exert the maximum amount of "pull" on the human body down to the cellular level, with the least amount of effort.

Subjects exercising on a Rebounder experienced a whopping 68% greater result in conditioning as compared to those who jogged. Gravity helps to cleanse, strengthen and energize every cell, every organ and every muscle.

The Length and Quality of Your Life Depend on How Well Your Liver Functions!

Impaired liver and gallbladder function has been linked to accelerated aging, weakened immune system and dozens of major illnesses and diseases including asthma, coronary heart disease, cancers, migraines, allergies, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, and kidney disease. When your liver can't cleanse your blood, all the toxins you ingest and absorb are passed unchecked into your bloodstream where they poison your lungs, your skin, your kidneys, your reproductive organs, your bones, and every cell in your body!

Why? Because your liver is your body's mastermind detoxifying agent and blood filter and your first and most powerful line of defense in a polluted world. (That's why the traditional Chinese doctors call the liver "the general in the army," and why the oldest healing systems on earth always clean the liver first!)

'Staycations' Benefit Your Budget And Mother Earth
Think You Don't Need a Desert Survival Drink?

Dear Reader,

Cancelled airline flights. Escalating gas prices with no end in sight. Financial uncertainty. With the overwhelming financial stress facing our nation today, most Americans are in dire need of some downtime to recharge their fading batteries. Because of the downturn in the economy, a traditional vacation is out of the question for many Americans. In fact, 30 percent of the families in this country are changing their summer plans and sticking closer to home, according a recent survey conducted by the travel web site TripAdvisor.

Fortunately, mental health experts say that the psychological effects of "staycations" can be just as beneficial, if the stay-at-home event is treated with the same respect as a traditional vacation. For instance, a staycation must have a start date and an end date and you must make a commitment not to let household chores distract you from your goal of rest and relaxation.

Planning a vacation is part of the fun and staycations are no exception. Get the whole family involved. Have the children make lists of local attractions and activities they would like see included in your itinerary. Set an agenda for every day of your staycation. One day, you might have a barbecue followed by a "campout" in the backyard. Another day might include a visit to a local zoo or a picnic in the park. Set aside a day to spend time at a wave pool, water park or a local lake.

As rude as it may sound, you may have to put out the "you're not welcome mat" in order for a staycation to be successful. For instance, you might find that it's better not to tell your employer that you will be vacationing "in town" so they won't be tempted to call you about the "little things" that emerge while you are enjoying your well-deserved, hard-earned respite.

Being close to home probably means you'll have e-mail access. But just because you can check your e-mail or scroll through your BlackBerry doesn't mean you should. Psychologists recommend completely swearing off e-mail and letting co-workers know that you'll get back to them when you return from your staycation, just as you would if you were removed from the technology.

Above all else, vacations need to be fun. Set a mood, create an atmosphere and choose a theme. Go to local discount stores and purchase fake palm trees, beach music and maybe some new beach towels. Rent a few movies that your family has been wanting to see. Cook up some healthy, fun snacks to enjoy for the duration of your staycation. Having fun doesn't have to be expensive.

In addition to helping your personal economy, "staycations" have the added benefit of helping Mother Earth because they can reduces emissions from cars. If 30% of Americans are actually committed to "staycations" the cumulative effect could be significant. The actions we take in the next several years will determine the kind of world our children and grandchildren will inherit.

Yours in good health,
