Don’t Let Allergy Symptoms Spoil Your Spring
How Do Harmless Allergens Become Public Enemy #1?
Good Caffeine? You Bet! |
|
Dear Reader,
Most people rejoice at the arrival of spring. But for the 22 million Americans who suffer from seasonal allergies the magic of spring is marred by sneezing, stuffy noses, sore throats and watery eyes. An allergy is the result of your immune system’s overreaction to pollens, grass, airborne fungi and even certain foods and cosmetics. When an allergen is introduced the body fights back by producing an excess of inflammatory chemicals, such as histamine, from mast cells. This is what brings on the familiar and annoying allergy symptoms. Because allergies are poorly understood and inadequately treated by conventional medicine, many allergy sufferers turn to Mother Nature for help in preventing and coping with symptoms.
Some of the natural remedies used to treat seasonal allergies include:
Echinacea: This is available in extract, tincture or capsules and works by strengthening the immune system to prevent upper respiratory infections and reduce susceptibility to histamines.
Eucalyptus: Derived from the leaves of the eucalyptus tree, it is used topically to relieve chest congestion and cold discomforts. It is also an ingredient in many over the counter drugs and is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. Eucalyptus should be used with caution because some people are allergic to this plant.
Garlic: Garlic has antibiotic and antiviral properties and is used to treat sinus infections brought on by seasonal allergies. It is available in capsule form, tinctures or fresh. When using raw garlic cloves, garlic breath can be avoided by chopping the cloves into small pieces before swallowing.
Ginger: The medicinal properties of ginger come from the rhizome (similar to the root) of the plant. Ginger alleviates nausea and motion sickness and relives chest congestion associated with colds and allergies. Use 100% ginger only in the form of fresh rhizome, crystallized, extract, ginger syrup or capsules.
Nettle: The leaves and roots of nettle reduce symptoms caused by allergies such as hay fever.
Slippery Elm: Slippery elm is available in the form of lozenges, powder and capsules and it is derived from the inner bark of the elm tree. It is used to alleviate coughs and soothe sore throats that often accompany allergies and colds. Consider adding supplements to your diet. Look for immune boosting formulas. There are many supplements available that contain some or all of the above mentioned natural remedies. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 19 percent of adults use some form of herbs, botanicals and enzymes to enhance their health and boost their immunity. Vitamin C and zinc are especially helpful in strengthening the immune system.
It is important for allergy sufferers to maintain a healthy lifestyle that includes a nutritious diet, exercise and plenty of rest in order to keep their immune systems strong. A weak immune system is more taxed by the stresses of everyday life, and will compromise your body’s ability to fend off the allergens that cause your symptoms.

How Do Harmless Allergens Become Public Enemy #1?
The
human body is a marvel of design. But sometimes your immune system can
mistake harmless foreign substances such as pollen, dust mites, mold
and even food, for deadly invaders. When this happens, your body
produces histamines which attack these harmless allergens. The result?
An allergic reaction.
The battle raging within can
cause inflammation just about anywhere in your body. If you suffer from
allergies, you know the symptoms well; everything from a runny nose,
coughing, sneezing and congestion to a skin rash, cramps, nausea, and
diarrhea. The best way to deal with allergies may be the natural way –
using natural anti-inflammatory compounds like those found in ALLER-EASE™.
They don’t just mask the symptoms but can work directly with your
immune system to help prevent allergic reactions in the first place.

Good Caffeine? You Bet!
Green tea is unique: it's made from pure, unfermented leaves that are harvested at their peak perfection and then stabilized through exposure to both humid and dry heat — giving green tea the highest concentration of polyphenols and locking in the tannins.
Tannins ensure that caffeine is taken to the brain in only small amounts so it can be easily used. This helps green tea drinkers improve their vitality and stamina without the up-and-down effect of black tea.
Tannins inhibit the oxidation of your body's DNA material, a leading cause of cell destruction and mutation.
Green tea tannins help clear urinary tract infections, stimulate digestion, reduce unwanted body fat, increase hair growth and support saliva secretion to keep teeth free of plaque.
Pretty amazing, don't you agree? Gain the enhanced immunity protection of 20 cups of tea with just a few drops of GREEN TEA ELIXIR™

Pudgy Pooches Have Increased Risk Of Health Problems Work with your body, rather than against it! 95% of All Food Sold in Supermarkets is Acid Forming |
Dear Reader,
When
those beautiful and hopeful eyes beam up at you while you are eating
dinner it can be extremely difficult to resist giving your pet a table
scrap or two. Unfortunately, these "table scrap" treats can add up to
obesity which can be a major health threat to your pet.
Obesity
is fast becoming the number one health problem of domestic animals in
this country, with one in four pets fitting the profile of overweight
or obese. Unfortunately, most pet owners don’t fully understand the
devastating toll that obesity can take on their furry friends.
A
pet is considered to be overweight if it is 10%-20% above its ideal
weight and is considered obese if it is greater than 20% above ideal.
Certain breeds and species seem more susceptible to obesity. In dogs,
Labradors have a tendency to gain weight, as do cocker spaniels and
beagles. Less-active cats such as Persians are also prone to weight
gain. The tendency to become obese is greater as pets get older and
become less active.
The serious health problems associated with pet obesity are similar to those of their human counterparts and include:
- Gastrointestinal
distress. Obese pets are more likely to become constipated and
flatulent. They are also more prone to stomach ulcers, which can be
very serious, especially in dogs.
- Higher
cancer rates: Pets who are overweight are more susceptible to cancer.
In fact, the incidence of cancer is 50 percent higher in dogs that are
overweight than in dogs of optimum weight.
- Diabetes: Overweight pets have a significantly increased risk of diabetes.
- Hypertension:
The incidence of high blood pressure (hypertension) is much higher in
obese pets. Hypertension increases the risk of kidney, heart and
vascular diseases.
- Orthopedic
Problems: Obese pets have an increased incidence of arthritis
(degenerative joint disease), spinal disc problems, and torn knee
ligaments. Their quality of life is often compromised because they
can’t get around as well as pets of normal weight.
- Skin problems: Overweight pets are 40 per cent more likely to develop skin problems than pets of normal weight.
- Mood
Swings: Because of the insulating properties of fat, overweight pets
are less able to endure hot weather, and may become irritable or
depressed.
Preventing
weight gain in pets can be every bit as challenging as preventing
weight gain in humans. An even bigger challenge is trying to get your
pet back to a healthy weight once it has become obese.
Here are some measures that may help:
- No matter how hard they beg, you should never give your dog or cat table scraps.
- Limit
the number of pet treats that you give your dog. One of the great joys
of life is watching the excitement on your dog’s face when you pull out
the box of treats. It’s fine to share an occasional treat, but don’t
overdo it.
- Increase
your pet’s activity level. Take your dog for longer walks or play
“fetch” several times a day. If you have an indoor cat, carve out some
“play time” that you can spend with him or her every day. Cats also
love toys, especially when they contain catnip.
- Consider
switching to a low-calorie pet food. These products are typically lower
in fat and higher in fiber. This allows the owner to continue to serve
a nice-sized portion while reducing the number of calories the pet
actually receives.
Because
pets play such a vital role in our physical and mental health, it is
important that we take care of them. Increasing activity and limiting
calorie intake can add years to the life of your beloved pet. Yours in good health,

Work with your body, rather than against it!
We
used to think that the human growth hormone naturally produced by the
body was only necessary until we reached maturity. However, studies now
show that the human growth hormone, or hGH, is vital in virtually all
functions of the body throughout our entire lives, even into old age!
Sadly,
as our bodies mature, the level of hGH decreases accordingly, leaving
us at the mercy of time, increasing our chances of premature aging, and
all the joys that come along with it: creaking bones, back pain, weight
gain, loss of sex drive, loss of eyesight, and more.
Many
people try to continually replace these hormones with injections that
can cost about $1,000 a month, month after month, after month! Luckily
through the research of Dr. L.E. Dorman, we now know that there is a
natural way to stimulate our own body's release of its own natural hGH!

95% of All Food Sold in Supermarkets is Acid Forming
Most
of us eat 80 percent acid foods and 20 percent alkaline foods and just
the opposite ratio is the one that will guide you to disease-free
vibrant health – for life!
What
are we to do? Become rabbits and eat carrots and celery all day? No
way! There are too many foods to love and too much variety to enjoy.
Too much we can’t give up, at least not overnight.
The answer is simple... All Day Energy Greens

Time Change Wreaks Havoc On Our ‘Internal Clocks’
-
What's So Bad About Losing a Little Sleep?
How Does Increased Pollution Wear You Out
| Dear Reader, In
a few days most of the country will spring forward into Daylight
Savings Time. While the extra hour of daylight will be a welcome boost
for many winter weary souls, body clocks may be temporarily baffled,
making sleeping (and waking) very difficult.
Sleep
experts say that the time change comes as a jolt to our internal
clocks, and it can take as long as two weeks for our bodies to adjust.
Recent European studies show that Daylight Savings Time essentially
disrupts our body’s natural tracking of dawn. This disruption affects
our moods, our ability to get things done and our ability to
concentrate.
If
our bodies could adjust naturally then the change would not be so
disruptive. Unfortunately, there are many aspects of our lives that
depend on unnatural signals (odd work schedules that keep us working
late at night or doing shift work, pre-dawn wakeup calls, drugs to keep
us either asleep or awake). Unlike our cavemen ancestors, who let the
sun dictate their day-night cycles and define the hours of rest and
work, we let the demands of everyday life decide when we eat, sleep and
work.
According to Dr.
Victoria Sudelescu, a sleep expert with the University of Cincinnati
Sleep Center, the “spring forward” clock change in March is more
difficult to adjust to than the “fall back “change. To adjust to the
change she recommends at least eight hours of sleep in order to stay
healthy and alert during the day. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine offers the following tips to help your body adjust to the time change: - Begin to change your sleep routine a few days before the time change by going to bed earlier.
- Readjust your mealtime schedule by eating dinner an hour earlier.
- Avoid naps, especially close to bedtime.
- Avoid turning to excessive caffeine to help you wake up in the morning or alcohol to help you sleep at night.
- Eat nutritious meals and drink plenty of water.
Adele
Kristianson, director of marketing and legislative affairs for the
National Road Safety Foundation, said we can expect to see a spike in
traffic accidents when the time changes. “Drowsiness is a condition
most drivers fail to recognize and it can be every bit as dangerous as
drinking and driving,” she said. Most
people are hesitant to take prescription sleep aids for fear of
becoming addicted. That being the case, millions of Americans are using
all-natural supplements to help ensure a good nights sleep. Yours in good health,

What's So Bad About Losing a Little Sleep?
It's not the one or two nights of lost sleep that can cause problems, it's chronic poor sleep or unrefreshed sleep night after night that's hazardous to your health. Imagine this... Over
100 million Americans including teens and adults now suffer from oneof
the 85 different sleep disorders - meaning they routinely have trouble
falling asleep, staying asleep AND waking up! While many of us are now busy burning the midnight oil or twisting, turning, and agonizing through the wee hours trying to get a good night's sleep... Scientists
are compiling evidence that sleep deprivation is indeed potentially
dangerous. Insomnia has now been identified as a major risk factor for
depression, diabetes, alcoholism, obesity, on-the-job-accidents and
weakened immune response. |
How Does Increased Pollution Wear You Out? In the midst of compromised sources for our water, air, food and soil... Your
5 channels of elimination – liver, kidneys, colon, lungs and skin – all
have to work harder to neutralize and eliminate toxins. And that adds
up to organ stress and exhaustion, which helps contribute to cellular
stress and finally — daily, life-draining fatigue – which is also a
breeding ground for illness and disease. The end result of poor diet and increased pollution: we are more wrung out, strung out and dragging from one day to the next. Now, there’s an easy, fast, super convenient, all natural, way to jumpstart and maintain your energy all day long and gain powerful, new health protection for your entire body, at the same time. | | | Brought to you by Institute for Vibrant LivingTM To learn more about IVL, call 1-800-720-1245 or visit http://www.IVLProducts.com | | Contact us by mail at: Institute for Vibrant Living P.O.
