Dear Reader,

If an apple a day keeps the doctor away just imagine what a glass of aloe vera juice can do for you. Aloe vera juice comes from the leaves of the aloe plant, which has long been heralded for its health enhancing properties. It is often referred to as "nature's perfect remedy" because of its ability to treat a vast array of health conditions.

The aloe plant and its derivative products have played a role in medicine and health dating as far back as the 4th century BC, when ancient Greek doctors discovered its benefits. Aloe is a lily-like, green and sometimes spiny shrub with very little, if any stem. It is grown in the southwestern region of the United States but is native to Africa.

Aloe vera juice contains a wide range of essential vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C, B-complex, iron, copper, calcium, potassium and manganese. It is safe to drink every day. One of the most beneficial aspects of aloe juice is its ability to stimulate colonic irrigation (the process of loosening and washing out waste materials from the digestive system). Unfortunately our diets include many potentially harmful substances including various chemicals, fats and insecticides that can result in a high level of toxins. Food residues, toxins and bacteria can clog the intestinal lining. The bowel can actually become lined with unabsorbed food residues. These deposits can become impacted and prevent essential nutrients from being absorbed. The result is a nutritional deficiency, which can cause lethargy and exhaustion. The colon may begin to trigger moderate to severe pain in the lower abdomen because of diarrhea or constipation.

Researchers have discovered that drinking aloe vera juice regularly over several weeks can help break down residues and improve irrigation of the colon. This type of detoxification helps relieve abdominal pain, allowing a person to enjoy a wider range of foods. Many people find that they no longer need prescribed bulking agents or antispasmodic drugs once there bodies have become detoxified by regular servings of aloe juice. Aloe juice also helps regulate the production of stomach acids, which can prevent digestive problems like ulcer, acid indigestion, colitis and irritable bowel syndrome.

Because of its analgesic and anti-inflammatory qualities, people who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis can benefit greatly from aloe juice. It helps relieve joint pain, reduce stiffness and improves joint movement. The juice contains basic sugars that are essential in cell regeneration which help rebuild damaged muscle tissue.

Aloe vera juice is believed to increase the production of white blood cells, which can help the body fight bacteria and viruses as well as prevent the growth of cancer cells. It also helps to dilate the capillaries and support cell growth, thereby improving circulation.

Some studies have shown that aloe juice can be helpful to people who want to lose weight. Aloe vera works to reduce and stimulate the body mass index by stimulating the metabolic rate in our liver cells so that we burn more calories. Because it contains significant amounts of collagen protein, the body has to use some additional energy to assimilate its protein into your system.

With all of the toxins in our environment today, it is refreshing to know that there is a natural product which can help rid our bodies of toxic residues. So drink up and see the positive difference aloe juice makes in your health.

Why are Heart Disease and Stroke Linked to Gum Disease?
The surface of healthy mucous membrane in the mouth is rich with antibodies called "immunoglobulins" that protect us from viruses and bacteria.

As we age, the body makes less of them and we have less resistance to the 300 kinds of oral bacteria.

When oral bacteria enter the bloodstream through a gum tear, they have a direct pipeline through the carotid arteries to the brain.

This same bacterial plaque that causes periodontal disease can trigger an immune response and inflammation that, in turn, can cause the arteries to swell. And the swelling of the arterial walls results in a blood flow constriction that can lead to a higher rate of stroke and heart disease.

Dear Reader,

It's undeniable that Western medicine has produced countless marvels. In recent years, however, a growing number of detractors have begun to point out some of the flaws inherent in the strictly science-based approach to medicine that is dominant in the West. Most troubling, these critics claim, is the tendency of Western doctors to focus solely on physical symptoms of illness.

In sharp contrast to this approach, traditional Chinese medicine is based on a holistic view of health. Practitioners of Chinese medicine focus on alleviating physical ailments, but they also take into consideration the mental, emotional, and spiritual components of well-being.

Indeed, the primary aim of traditional Chinese medicine is fostering the free flow of the life force, known as qi (pronounced "chee"). Illnesses are believed to develop when the flow of qi is blocked or impeded in some way.

Ancient Roots, Modern Relevance

Traditional Chinese medicine is a complex interweaving of the principles of herbal homeopathy and Taoist philosophy with origins that date back several millennia. In fact, the practice of Traditional Chinese medicine was fully established centuries before the modern practice of Western medicine came into existence.

Although the advent of Communism in China temporarily limited the practice of traditional Chinese medicine in some areas of the country, the tradition has remained vibrant and vital in spite of these restrictions. Today, traditional Chinese practitioners can be found in virtually every corner of the world.

For centuries, Western doctors dismissed the principles of traditional Chinese medicine as quackery. However, in recent years, the practice of traditional Chinese medicine has gained credibility and support from an unexpected ally - the scientific community.

Since the early 1990s, Western research teams have undertaken a series of investigations into the effectiveness of Chinese medicine. The results, published in many of the leading scholarly journals, have supported the usefulness of this approach in treating a variety of illnesses and symptoms, especially when combined with elements of Western medicine.

These findings are also supported by glowing reviews from a broad array of individuals who have given traditional Chinese medicine a try. Many patients who have turned to traditional Chinese medicine in desperation when science-based Western practitioners were unable to ease their symptoms have reported astonishing success rates.

Age-Old Herbal Antidotes for 21st Century Ailments

In the Western medical paradigm, doctors often focus their efforts on the part of the body where symptoms have developed. In traditional Chinese medicine, however, the origins and the manifestation of an imbalance can often occur in completely different areas of the body. For example, to a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine, a sallow complexion, pale lips, or muscle weakness could all be signs of problems with the spleen.

Here's an overview of some of the most frequently used herbal remedies that a practitioner might prescribe to restore your qi and put you on the path to enhanced well-being:

     * Ginseng: Now well known in the West, ginseng is used to combat fatigue, enhance energy, and increase stamina.

     * Schisandra: This lemony herb, also known as five-flavor berry, is used to bolster endocrine system function and ease liver problems. It is also sometimes used to alleviate the symptoms of allergy sufferers.

     * Ginger: Not just used to flavor sushi or stir-fry, ginger is prized by practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine for its ability to treat nausea and stomach ailments, improve circulation, and provide a boost to slow metabolisms. It is also recommended as a non-hormonal method of regulating the menstrual cycle.

     * Astragalus Root: This herb is a time-honored method for fortifying the qi, or life-force. It also bolsters immune system functioning and improves lung capacity in frequent cold sufferers or those with ongoing respiratory problems. It is also often used to diminish the production of perspiration.

     * Dong Quai: This herb is often used to treat an array of feminine symptoms, ranging from menstrual cramps to hot flashes. Practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine often refer to it as "women's tonic" because of its usefulness with these problems.

     * Licorice: If you're a Twizzlers fan, you might be happy to hear that practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine often use herbal licorice to improve the taste of bitter herbal teas, as well as to strengthen other prescribed herbal blends. Licorice is also believed to treat ulcers and ease endocrine and immune system problems.

These represent just a few of the thousands of herbal concoctions that are part of the rich healing tradition tapped into by practitioners of Chinese medicine. If you want to develop a comprehensive health regimen, consult a qualified practitioner to get started.

However, if you simply want to explore a little on your own before engaging the services of a professional, you can easily brew herbal teas using ingredients that relate to your symptoms. Check out a library book or search the Internet for specific recipes, and your qi will be flowing freely in no time at all.

Less Toxins = Less Pain, More Energy

Medical studies reveal that each and every day we're exposed to harmful substances, not only in the form of common air pollution, but through the very foods we eat. The Standard American Diet (or SAD for short!!) is loaded with preservatives, antibiotics, pesticides, and dangerous chemicals - all waiting to inundate your system, from your organs, to your bloodstream, from your head down to your toes, robbing you of the vibrant good health that you deserve.

But once these harmful substances are removed from your system, you'll begin to look and feel dramatically better...

The Length and Quality of Your Life Depends On How Well Your Liver Functions!

Impaired liver and gallbladder function have been linked to accelerated aging, weakened immune system and dozens of major illnesses and diseases including asthma, coronary heart disease, cancers, migraines, allergies, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, and kidney disease. When your liver can't cleanse your blood, all the toxins you ingest and absorb are passed unchecked into your bloodstream where they poison your lungs, your skin, your kidneys, your reproductive organs, your bones, and every cell in your body!

Why? Because your liver is your body's mastermind detoxifying agent and blood filter and your first and most powerful line of defense in a polluted world. (That's why the traditional Chinese doctors call the liver "the general in the army," and why the oldest healing systems on earth always clean the liver first!)

Dear Reader,

Remember the Grinch? He usually rears his ugly head around Christmas time but sometimes he gets bored when the weather is warm and he tries to ruin summer fun by putting summer hazards in our paths. Fortunately for us, those summer hazards can be easily avoided by taking a few simple steps.

Extreme heat is one of the major hazards associated with summer. Heat strokes kill thousands of people every year. The risk of heat stroke goes up during heavy exertion and is more prevalent in people with health conditions such as diabetes, obesity and heart disease. People over the age of 65 and young children are especially prone to heat illness.

Normally the body cools itself by sweating. If temperatures and humidity are extremely high, however, sweating is not effective in maintaining the body's normal temperature and that can lead to heat-related health problems. During heat illness, the body's cooling system shuts down. The body temperature goes up quickly, which inhibits the ability to sweat. The first symptoms of heat exhaustion include excessive thirst, fatigue and cramps in the legs or abdomen. If it is left untreated, heat exhaustion can lead to heat stroke which is a serious and potentially life threatening condition. Symptoms of heat stroke include dizziness, headache, nausea, rapid heartbeat, vomiting, confusion, and a temperature which can soar as high as 105° F or more. In severe cases, the body's major organs may be damaged.

Fortunately, heat illness can be prevented by following a few simple rules. Reduce strenuous activities during the hottest hours of the day. If you must be outside in the heat for long periods of time, carry a water bottle and drink fluids constantly, even if you don't feel thirsty. If you are working in a hot environment, it is essential that you drink a minimum of 16 ounces of cold water per hour. Avoid caffeine and alcohol. Getting adequate amounts of sleep and proper nutrition are especially important during the hot summer months. Light meals are easier to digest than heavy meals. Eat fruits that are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C like strawberries, blueberries and raspberries.

If you see someone who appears to be suffering from heat illness, have the person lie down in a cool place and elevate their legs. Use water, wet towels and fanning to help cool the person down until emergency help arrives.

Food poisoning is another potential summer hazard that lurks at weddings, picnics, graduation parties and family cookouts. Bacteria, whether in food or in the air grow faster in warm weather. Fortunately, food poisoning can be avoided by following a few simple steps.

When the meal is finished food should be refrigerated promptly. According to FDA guidelines, food should never be left out for more than one hour when the temperature is above 90° F. Even in cooler weather food should never be left out for more than two hours. Keep hot food hot and cold food cold. Wash off fruits and vegetables with cool running water.

When you are packing food for a picnic, place cold food in a cooler with plenty of ice or commercial freezing gels. Cold food should be held at or below 40° F and the cooler should be stored in the shade. Hot food should be wrapped well, placed in an insulated container and kept at or above 140° F.

Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before beginning any type of food preparation. Wash food surfaces and keep raw food separate from cooked food.

What is this "Hawaiian miracle?"

The noni plant has withstood the test of time. For literally thousands of years it has been flourishing in Hawaii's lush, nutrient-rich soil. Down through the ages, healers and shamans in Hawaii and the South Pacific have depended on the benefits of this versatile plant to ease the pain and remedy the health problems of the people under their care. They realized juice from the noni fruit had amazing healing powers of restoration. The noni was - and still is - considered sacred and vital to the health of every islander.

In his book, "Noni: The Tropical Fruit with 101 Medicinal Uses," Dr. Neil Solom discusses a survey of 8,000 people who used Hawaiian Noni for a variety of medical conditions. When doctors and other health professionals interviewed them, they found that Hawaiian noni helped 78% of the people who used it.

Steven Hall, M.D., of Providence Hospital in Washington, has treated patients with Hawaiian noni for inflammatory problems such as arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis and even carpal tunnel syndrome. Dr. Hall revealed that "noni is incredible because it offers help to people who could not be helped by traditional medical science." Dr. Hall also reported that "not only does noni provide many benefits on its own, but it also increases the effectiveness of other treatments."

Master Herbalist, Rita Elkins, author of "The Noni Revolution," states, "As an investigative author, I have concluded that noni has more than enough credibility to justify its use. . .for improved health. Supplementation with noni appears to optimize health."

Cool your mouth and fight dental cavities at the same time.

Used by dentists worldwide for oral health, xylitol, also called wood sugar or birch sugar, is a five-carbon sugar alcohol that is used as a sugar substitute. Xylitol is a naturally occurring sweetener found in the fibers of many fruits and vegetables. It is roughly as sweet as sucrose but is a "tooth friendly" sugar. In addition to not encouraging tooth decay (by replacing dietary sugars), xylitol may actively aid in repairing minor cavities caused by dental caries.

When bacteria enter the body they hold on to our tissues by hanging on to a variety of sugar complexes. The open nature of xylitol and its ability to form many different sugar-like structures appears to interfere with the ability of many bacteria to adhere.

Xylitol can also be applied nasally through a saline solution containing xylitol, such as Xlear Nasal Wash.

What Do Your Kidneys Really Do For You Every Day?

It's their critical job to filter blood (about 1700 quarts a day), ridding the body of waste products.

The kidneys filter metabolic waste products from protein, fat, various minerals, alcohol, drugs, and other ingested toxins. Said another way: your kidneys are your indispensable wastewater removal system. Without them you die!

Much of the water you drink is necessary to clean the blood and flush acid waste out of the body via the kidneys.

Your kidneys also regulate all your body's water; electrolytes monitor the acid/alkaline balance of your blood and help control blood pressure. Read on to learn more...

Dear Reader,

On any given day, hundreds of thousands of people in this country in the prime of their lives are sidelined by the chronic pain, stiffness and extreme fatigue that are hallmarks of fibromyalgia. For some the symptoms are so severe that just getting out of bed is difficult, if not impossible. Although thousands of studies have been conducted about fibromyalgia, the exact causes have yet to be determined and there is no known cure.

Fibromyalgia is a condition that results in muscle pain as well as pain in the tissues of the body. Flu-like achiness is frequently the most prominent symptom. With a condition such as fibromyalgia, symptoms may not be present all the time. They can come and go, with flare-ups that may be followed by periods of lesser intensity.

A state of central sensitization exists in fibromyalgia sufferers. This means that your central nervous system may be unusually sensitive to pain (hyperalgesia) and you also may find certain sounds, vibrations, light, and other sensations (even smells) to be translated by your body into discomfort or pain. Many patients also suffer from "fibro fog," which is an inability to concentrate. Some medical experts believe that fibro fog may actually be brought on by the sleep deprivation that often accompanies fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is more common in women than in men.

Once a person is diagnosed with fibromyalgia, they are prone to intermittent bouts with the painful symptoms throughout their lives. Since there is no cure, treatment is aimed at controlling the symptoms. Because the condition is chronic, sufferers need to find a drug-free way of coping with the pain to avoid becoming dependent on habit-forming prescription medications. Lifestyle changes, acupuncture, massage, yoga and herbal remedies are among the drug-free methods often used to ease the symptoms.

Studies funded by the National Institutes for Health show that fibromyalgia patients who have regular massages report less pain, more energy and fewer episodes of depression. Massage relieves soreness and stiffness in muscles and joints and strengthens connective tissue. Massages cause the body to produce endorphins, the body's natural painkiller. Muscles which have been in a state of contracture, or constant tension, do not allow a healthy flow of fresh blood and lymph to enter the tissue. Fluids locked within the tissue become stagnant and filled with toxins and waste products which would normally be carried away by healthy circulation.

Massage techniques of compression and kneading push these waste products from the muscle, allowing fresh blood and lymph fluid back into the tissues bringing vital oxygen and nutrition. Fibromyalgia sufferers see strong benefits from deep tissue massage which is focused on deep muscle and connective tissues.

Fibromyalgia can be diagnosed in one of two ways. When a person experiences pain that is widespread on both sides of the body, the doctor or holistic practitioner may suspect the presence of fibromyalgia. The presence of at least eleven or more points on the body that are sore or tender when pressed may also indicate a diagnosis of fibromyalgia.

Treatment methods will vary from person to person. Almost all fibromyalgia sufferers can benefit from mild to moderate exercise, especially those like Pilates that involve gentle stretching. Swimming is also an appropriate exercise because water allows patients to move freely without putting stress on painful joints. Regular exercise helps reduce the aches and pains and improves sleep. Exercise also helps reduce the anxiety and depression, which often accompany chronic illnesses.

Some patients benefit from counseling and stress-reduction techniques. Many fibromyalgia sufferers have to make significant lifestyle adjustments such as working only part-time, taking frequent breaks and avoiding extreme heat or cold. Talk to your holistic practitioner about the treatment and lifestyle changes that will work best for you.

What's So Bad About Losing a Little Sleep?

It's not the one or two nights of lost sleep that can cause problems, it's chronic poor sleep or unrefreshed sleep night after night that's hazardous to your health.

Imagine this...

Over 100 million Americans including teens and adults now suffer from one of the 85 different sleep disorders - meaning they routinely have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep AND waking up!

While many of us are now busy burning the midnight oil or twisting, turning, and agonizing through the wee hours trying to get a good night's sleep...

Scientists are compiling evidence that sleep deprivation is indeed potentially dangerous. Insomnia has now been identified as a major risk factor for depression, diabetes, alcoholism, obesity, on-the-job-accidents and weakened immune response.

Check out NASA's Astonishing Results...

NASA scientists discovered that because the cells of the body live in an essentially zero-gravity environment, it's beneficial to alter the G-force in order to stimulate the body's lymphatic system that removes toxins from the cells.

Rebounding, (jumping on a trampoline), they found, is the only exercise proven to exert the maximum amount of "pull" on the human body down to the cellular level, with the least amount of effort.

Subjects exercising on a Rebounder experienced a whopping 68% greater result in conditioning as compared to those who jogged. Gravity helps to cleanse, strengthen and energize every cell, every organ and every muscle...

Dear Reader,

Very few parents would intentionally inflict harm on their young children, yet millions of Americans are exposing their infants and toddlers to toxic poisons and carcinogens every time they light up at home. According to the American Lung Association, there are an estimated 150,000 to 300,000 cases every year of bronchitis and pneumonia in infants and children under 18 years of age who breathe secondhand smoke. These result in between 7,500 and 15,000 hospitalizations.

Among children under the age of 18, an estimated 22 percent are exposed to second hand smoke in their homes. The National Cancer Institute has conducted numerous awareness campaigns aimed at reducing second hand smoke within the home, especially homes with children.

Because their bodies are still developing and their breathing rate is faster than that of adults, children are at much higher risk for developing problems related to secondhand smoke. When the air is tainted with cigarette smoke, young developing lungs receive a higher concentration of inhaled toxins than older lungs receive. Children who spend one hour in a smoky room inhale enough toxic chemicals to equal 10 cigarettes.

According to the American Thoracic Society "healthy" children of smokers who don't show outward signs of breathing difficulties may still be experiencing reduced lung function which could progressively worsen with continued exposure. For very young children and infants, secondhand smoke exposure raises the risk of sudden infant death syndrome. Pregnant women who are exposed to secondhand smoke are more likely to have babies with low birth weight. In some cases, second hand smoke has caused miscarriages. Babies born to smoking mothers are at an increased risk for developmental issues, learning disabilities and cerebral palsy.

When a person is exposed to secondhand smoke they are actually exposed to two forms of smoke. "Sidestream" smoke is emitted between puffs of a burning cigarette, pipe or cigar and "mainstream" smoke is exhaled by the smoker. This combination of smoke contains at least 60 cancer-causing agents as well as toxins such as nicotine and carbon dioxide.

Consider these facts from the American Lung Association:

* Secondhand smoke is responsible for an estimated 38,000 deaths among
nonsmokers each year which includes 3,000 lung cancer deaths and 35,000 deaths due to heart disease.

* Second hand smoke can worsen existing pulmonary symptoms for people with asthma, chronic bronchitis and allergies.

* The incidence of lung cancer in waitresses and bartenders who work in restaurants where smoking is allowed is more than twice that of the general population.

* There is no safe amount of second hand smoke.

One of the most unfortunate aspects of secondhand smoke is that small children have no choice about their environments. It is up to parents to keep their children safe and make sure the air they breathe is fresh and clear. Bear in mind that second hand smoke causes first hand problems because your lungs don't know the difference.

The State of Arizona recently adopted no smoking policies in all public places. Many communities and several states are giving in to pressure from nonsmokers who are demanding a smoke free environment for themselves and for their children.

Yours in good health,

How Can the Rooster Help Men and Women Keep Their Joints & Muscles Free of Pain?

100 million Americans suffer from chronic pain. Back pain, neck pain, knee pain, foot pain - you name it, we've got pain, all day, every day. In fact, joint and muscle pain cause more disability and missed work days than cancer and heart disease combined.

As we age, our joints and muscles lose Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and HA is the critical lubricant for your healthy joints, skin and eyes. This joint dryness is the principal reason why your cartilage - the shock absorber between your joints - becomes malnourished and starved, and why it starts to break down and disintegrate, causing terrible pain with each step.

HA is extracted from Rooster Comb and it's the best source for providing your body with a low molecular weight source of HA, which means higher absorption. HA is odorless, neutral in color, water-soluble and classified as a food. It is 100% natural and has shown to be effective in maintaining skin elasticity, joint flexibility and sharp vision among adults.

Dear Reader,

Many Americans who wouldn't dream of missing their yearly health physical routinely put their health at risk by skipping annual vacations. The lack of downtime puts them at higher risk for a variety of ailments, including heart disease. As one cardiologist put it: "When my patients tell me they can't afford to take a vacation, I tell them they can't afford not to."

Medical researchers and large corporations are beginning to understand the importance of employees striking the right balance between work and their home life. Often referred to as "work /life balance," corporations are encouraging high-performing employees to take their time off so that they don't burn out. Vacations contribute to sound physical and mental health, both of which are needed for an employee to achieve peak performance.

According to a study conducted by Oxford Health Plans about one in five working men and women report feeling so overworked that they are not able to use up all of their vacation time. The American Management Association reports that only about a third of executives are willing to get away from work for more than one week at a time. What's more, when American executives do take vacations, they are very liable to take their work with them, checking email and voice mail regularly and using cell phones. The unwillingness to take vacations comes from a deep-rooted cultural belief that "not working" is a bad thing. In Europe, most workers take three or more weeks of vacation per year.

Brooks Gump, PhD from the department of psychology at New York State University, has conducted studies that show that the frequency of heart disease is greater among men who don't take vacations. Gump's study showed that men who took vacations had a significantly less risk of dying of heart disease (or any other condition) than men who did not. These studies suggest that American employers who make it a practice to monitor employees who take too much time off would do well to also monitor those who work too much. It could save them money in healthcare costs and productivity.

Vacations restore health by reducing stress which is a known risk factor for a variety of diseases. Aside from the removal of stress, vacations offer soul-enhancing benefits that come from spending quality time with family and friends.

Nearly one in five working women report taking a vacation only once in the past six years. The odds of being depressed increased as the frequency of vacation decreased. Women who took vacations only once in six years thought their home life was negatively affected by work and they reported feeling tired almost all of the time.

Getting away does not have to mean an expensive cruise or a trip to a pricy beach resort. The key is to find a setting that will allow you to leave all of your worries behind. If you can't get away for a week or two at a time, then a series of short excursions and enjoyable activities or driving nowhere in particular can be a fun adventure for the entire family. Camping and B&B's offer affordable options.

The critical issue is that too many of us are running around in circles, never allowing ourselves time to reflect and think about what really matters most in our lives. Life is not all about working. As the saying goes: "I never heard anybody on their death bed say they wish they had spent more time at the office."

What are you waiting for? Pack the bags and relax for a few days. Your body and your soul will thank you for it.

Yours in good health,

Work with your body, rather than against it!

We used to think that the human growth hormone naturally produced by the body was only necessary until we reached maturity. However, studies now show that the human growth hormone, or hGH, is vital in virtually all functions of the body throughout our entire lives, even into old age!

Sadly, as our bodies mature, the level of hGH decreases accordingly, leaving us at the mercy of time, increasing our chances of premature aging, and all the joys that come along with it: creaking bones, back pain, weight gain, loss of sex drive, loss of eyesight, and more.

Many people try to continually replace these hormones with injections that can cost about $1,000 a month, month after month, after month! Luckily through the research of Dr. L.E. Dorman, we now know that there is a natural way to stimulate our own body's release of its own natural hGH! Here's the good news:

More Americans Than Ever Have High Blood Pressure!

At least 65 million Americans (1 out of 3 adults over 18) have hypertension - defined as high blood pressure of 140 over 90 or higher.

The number of people with high blood pressure (including children and young adults) has skyrocketed by over 30% in the last decade alone. Why?

You can blame the usual suspects: aging, obesity, lack of exercise and too much red meat and junk food, but that's not the whole story as you will see...

When Good Prostates Go Bad Scientists believe that as a man ages, his levels of testosterone start to decrease.

When our testosterone levels begin to decline, the levels of another hormone start to rise. A hormone called estrogen.

All this rising and falling of hormones causes an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase to turn what little testosterone we've got left into something called dihydrotestosterone or DHT. It's this DHT that causes the prostate to swell.

You may think that prostate trouble is just another lousy part of growing older... like gray hair or bifocals.

There is hope for your prostate and it doesn't involve dangerous drugs or risky surgery.

Dear Reader,

Bioterrorist? Probably not. Victim? Maybe. Irresponsible? Definitely.
However you couch the situation one thing is for sure: Andrew Speaker, a personal injury lawyer from Georgia, has managed to shine a global spotlight on tuberculosis.

Hopefully none of the 292 passengers who traveled with Speaker will suffer negative consequences from his decidedly irresponsible behavior. The passengers who have been tested so far are okay and his fiancŽ shows no sign of developing the respiratory infection. He has publicly apologized for his actions even though he is adamant that health officials had given him the green light to fly overseas in a plane with hundreds of other people on board.

Tuberculosis or TB is an infectious disease that usually affects the lungs but can attack other parts of the body. TB is spread from person to person through the air. People with TB of the lung spray the bacteria in the air when they cough, sneeze, talk or laugh. It is possible for people nearby to breathe in the bacteria and become infected. People usually have to be exposed to the TB patient for an extended period of time in order to become infected.

When a person breathes in TB bacteria they lodge in the lungs and sometimes multiply. From there the bacteria can move through the blood to other parts of the body, such as the kidneys, joints and brain. In most cases the disease is kept in check by the body's immune system. In a small percentage of people, the infection can break out into active TB at some point in their lives.

As with so many diseases, one of the greatest hopes of prevention and treatment lies with Mother Nature. Several studies have shown that vitamin D plays a critical role in the human body's response to TB. While research is still being evaluated, a recent study conducted at Harvard University suggests that a simple vitamin D supplement may be one of the most effective ways to deal with TB. The research, conducted by a team from UCLA and Harvard School of Public Health shows that vitamin D plays a key role in the production of a molecule called cathelicidin, which kills the TB bacteria.

The body naturally produces vitamin D when sunlight hits the skin. This explains why TB sanitariums were often built in sunny locations high in the mountains. So-called sophisticated 20th century medical researchers did not accept the theory that sitting people out on a sunny porch helped TB, but the current research suggests that the idea may have some benefit.

A study conducted in the United Kingdom also revealed the critical role that vitamin D plays in TB prevention. Dr. Adrian Martineau from the Division of Medicine at Imperial College in London put it this way: "This is very significant given the high levels of vitamin D deficiency in people at the highest risk of TB infection and shows that a simple, cheap supplement could make a significant impact on prevention of TB."

In any event, a vitamin D supplement, time in the sunshine or drinking vitamin D enriched milk or orange juice may provide significant benefits. It is interesting to ponder that billions of research dollars have been spent to treat a disease that possibly could be prevented by supplements that cost just pennies a day.

Spending time in the fresh air and sunshine and drinking a glass of orange juice are good for the body and soul in many ways. And at the end of the day, Mother Nature is the greatest healer.

Yours in good health,

Sugars That Heal and Make You Stronger - Can it Be True?

The Greek word "glyco" means "sweet" so glyconutrient means "sweet nutrient" or a dietary nutrient composed of sugar.

Recent nutritional research has shown that 8 sugars (also called monosaccharides or glyconutrients) - 6 of which are no longer readily found in the modern diet - are now regarded as the Masters of Multicellular Intelligence.

These sugars coat the surface of virtually every cell in the body and help your 70 trillion cells communicate with one another for optimal health.

Think of these essential sugars as the communication experts for your entire immune system - a system that's designed to fight off and destroy germs, viruses or infections;
it knows when to fight, when to strengthen and fortify, and when to help regulate.

Good Caffeine? You Bet!

Green tea is unique: it's made from pure, unfermented leaves that are harvested at their peak perfection and then stabilized through exposure to both humid and dry heat - giving green tea the highest concentration of polyphenols and locking in the tannins.

Tannins ensure that caffeine is taken to the brain in only small amounts so it can be easily used. This helps green tea drinkers improve their vitality and stamina without the up-and-down effect of black tea.

Tannins inhibit the oxidation of your body's DNA material, a leading cause of cell destruction and mutation.

Green tea tannins help clear urinary tract infections, stimulate digestion, reduce unwanted body fat, increase hair growth and support saliva secretion to keep teeth free of plaque.

Pretty amazing, don't you agree?

Folk Medicine is Now Proven Medical Fact.

In 1980, Hiroyuki Sumi, M.D. a researcher of the Japan Ministry of Education at the blood laboratory of the University of Chicago, documented that natto did, indeed, possess unsurpassed powers to dissolve blood clots.

He was searching for a natural agent that could successfully dissolve blood clots associated with heart attacks and stroke.

Dr. Sumi found that the sticky part of nattokinase, (an enzyme found in fermented soybeans), commonly called "threads", exhibited a strong blood clot busting activity. Here's what happened...
